Call for International Workshop on Edge Computing Enabled Satellite Networks

Call for International Workshop on Edge Computing Enabled Satellite Networks

Overview

In the recent past, the edge computing technology has already been successfully applied in ground IoT and broadband networks, and is now expanding to more types of networks. In legacy satellite networks, massive data generated (e.g. by the terminal nodes) at network edge are transmitted back to the ground based central clouds, overloading the satellite network and the cloud data center, also increasing task response latency. When the traditional GEO satellite and the upcoming LEO constellation broadband networks meet the promising edge computing technology, vital profits such as much shorter task response delay, less backhaul network bandwidth consumption, as well as lighter computation pressure on the backend cloud are expected to be achieved. In this view, we are aiming to discuss the potential advantages of adopting edge computing into the next generation satellite networks. We hope the integrating edge computing capability into satellite networks will improve network quality of service (QoS) and user quality of experience (QoE). We invite high quality original research papers describing recent and expected challenges or discoveries along with potential edge computing solutions for the future satellite networks.

We are pleased to invite you to submit your workshop paper:
